The amount of calcium required depends on the type of bariatric surgery performed. Based on internationally recognized guidelines from leading scientific societies (ASMBS and IFSO), we recommend a daily calcium intake of 1,200 to 1,500 mg.
Since your body can only absorb a limited amount of calcium per time you take it, it is important to spread the daily dose throughout the day. We advise consuming no more than 500 mg of calcium per intake so that your body can absorb the calcium in the best possible way.

Why we don’t include calcium in our WLS products
In our Elan WLS products (Compass, Believe and Supreme), calcium is deliberately avoided – and for good reason: calcium can inhibit the absorption of iron in the body. However, good iron intake is crucial to prevent anemia.
Important for your health
If you are taking Calcium Soft Chews in addition to your Elan-WLS supplements, be careful not to use them at the same time. There should be an interval of at least two hours between taking iron and calcium so that your body can absorb the iron optimally.
